Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Program - provides free transportation to medical appointments and doctor visits for people in Mecklenburg County who have no other means of transportation. People transported by Red Cross are referred initially by a professional such as a doctor, nurse, medical secretary, social worker, or home health care agency and must qualify for this service by meeting the specifications as follows: current Mecklenburg County resident, able to enter and leave vehicle with little or no assistance, have no medical (mental or physical) condition that would place a driver at risk of physical harm or of contracting any disease that could be transmitted by casual contact, have appointments between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and have no other means of transportation. For people who currently receive Medicaid: Clients with BLUE Medicaid Cards are Not eligible for Red Cross Transportation. American Red Cross Transportation Services are provided between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. |
